Justice Ivan Ladouceur

Born in Ft. Chipewyan, Alberta, Justice Ivan Ladouceur was raised in a traditional lifestyle and continues to spend a lot of time with family on their traditional lands and trapline. Fluent in Cree, Justice Ladouceur attended residential school in the Northwest Territories. He became a Journeyman Red Seal Industrial Mechanic/Millwright and later attended the University of Saskatchewan, completing the Adult Teacher Education Program. Justice Ladouceur taught for four years in Onion Lake, Saskatchewan, before pursuing a law degree at the University of Saskatchewan.

With 24 years of experience as a criminal trial lawyer, Justice Ladouceur has covered all types of cases, from breaches of court orders to murders. In 2016, he was appointed to the Alberta Court of Justice, sitting in the St. Paul Judicial District. In 2024, he started the Healing to Wellness Court. Justice Ladouceur remains deeply immersed in the practice of traditional culture and ceremonies.
