Gillian Lindquist

Keynote Speaker and Presenter

Gillian Lindquist began her journey to restorative justice in her training and practice as a mediator, where she was first introduced to the concept. She fell in love with the values of restorative justice and went on to complete a degree in Justice Studies with the goal of honing her knowledge of alternative justice mechanisms run by and for the community. In 2011, she was hired as the Executive Director of Restorative Justice Victoria (RJV) and has been with the agency for 13 years. RJV is a community-based restorative justice program that receives referrals from police, Crown, judges, probation, agencies, and members of the public, and deals with minor to serious offences/harms. Through her work at RJV, Gillian has many years of experience doing innovative, research-informed, and highly individualized restorative justice practice and has developed a passion for survivor-centered approaches. Her restorative justice experience includes managing over 1200 cases, developing community partnerships across a spectrum of agencies and organizations, and training hundreds of restorative justice practitioners. Gillian is currently completing a Master’s of Counseling with the goal of integrating restorative justice and therapeutic practices and knowledge to further strengthen the field and support the many people who access RJV’s services. Gillian is the mother to two wonderful little souls who continually teach her, through the child’s mind, about justice and fairness.
